Sony is reportedly targeting Paul Feig (Bridesmaids, The Heat US) to direct Ghostbusters 3, although formal talks have reportedly not yet begun. He directed 14 episodes of The Office (US), a show for which Ghostbusters 3 screenwriters Gene Stupnitsky and Lee Eisenberg (Bad Teacher, Year One) also wrote.
This comes after Ivan Reitman, who directed the first two Ghostbusters films, stepped down after Harold Ramis’ death. Phil Lord and Chris Miller, directors of the hit LEGO movie, were also reportedly courted at one time.
Update: THR has updated their headline to say that Sony wants Ghostbusters 3 to be a female-led reboot. There are no additional details.
